The City Manager is ________ and he serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the City. The City Manager is appointed by the City Coulncil and serves at the pleasure of the Council. The City Manager is directly responsible for the administration and enforcement of the City Council’s policies and is also responsible for the efficient operation of all governmental operations and activities.
The City Manager Department funds four authorized positions: City Manager, Executive Assistant to the City Manager, Custodian, and Information Technology Technician. Payroll expenses, travel, and training expenses for these four positions are included in the budget for the City Manager's office. In addition, the City Manager's Office budget includes funding for required newspaper adverstisements, hiring costs associated wih medical screening of applicants for city employment, and professional services contract costs for external Information Techonology support services
The City Manager has staff responsibility for Personnel Management, Public Information, Citizen’s Advocacy, Inter-Governmental Relations, Planning, Economic Development, Grants, Purchasing, Budget, Capital Project Management, and Special Projects.
The Executive Assistant to the City Manager is responsible for personnel records, policy and procedure manuals, applicant screening, workers’ compensation claims, injury reports, job description development, city facility administration, and benefits programs.
The Custodian is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the City Hall, Civic Center, Girl Scout House, Police Department, Armory, and Gibbs Library.
The Information Technology Technicial is responsible for maintaining the City’s Information Technology network infrastructure and related communications devices.

The City of Mexia has rental facilities available. Those facilities can be rented through the Executive Assistant for the City Manager 101 N. McKinney Sti’eet, Mexia, TX.

The deposit will be returned 10 days from your rental date, provided everything is clean, we do not have to sweep or mop, and there are no damages.
We have 58 tables that are rectangular, 2 1/2 feet by 6 feet
We have approx 300 chairs.
Maximum occupancy is 400 people. The upstaii‘s balcony is permanently closed. We have a full kitchen with a large commercial ice machine.
Alcohol Policy: There is no alcohol allowed at an event for minors.
Alcohol Liability Insurance Policy coverage must be at least $500,000. You can get this insurance from any Insurance company. The Insurance Company may charge anywhere from $180 to $300 for this type of insurance. The City does not regulate how much Insurance Companies may charge for this type of insurance.
If you have alcohol at your event, along with insurance, you will have to have two (2) licensed police officers (who are approved by the Mexia Police Chief) to be at the event the entire time. You must pay them at the rate of pay as agreed upone by you and the officers.
Girl Scout House and Pavilion
Deposit $100
Rent $100 per day
Pavilion $No charge but must be reserved

There are a limited number of tables and chairs. We recommend you bring additional chairs, tables and fans. There are two bathrooms, a small kitchen with a stove and refligerator.
Armorv Building

We have 20 tables that are rectangular, 2 1/2 feet by 6 feet
We have approx. 180 metal folding chairs. Maximum occupancy is 400 people.
There are no kitchen appliances available.
Locked and unlocked offices are not available. Only the big gym area, kitchen area, and restrooms are included in the rental.
There is no air conditioning in the Armory.

Rodeo Arena
Individual Use
The Rodeo Arena may be used by individuals. Individual use does not include a “group” to use the facility for an organized event.
Keys for’ the Arena and the light breaker switch (located behind the concession stand) may be obtained from the Police Dispatcher at the Police Station. The keys must be returned to the police station immediately after use. In order to obtain the lcey, all individuals will sign a Waiver of Liability at the Police Station before the key is given out. The Arena will be available for use from sunrise until 10:00 p.m. each day. The arena will not be available for individual use immediately before and after major group events (such as the annual Rodeo) to allow City staff time to prepare and repair the facility, as needed. Group Event Use
An application packet for a group event such can be obtained from the City Manager's office. The application must be completed and return with the appropriate fees. The Arena will not be available for individual use immediately before and after major group events (such as the annual Rodeo) to allow City staff time to prepare and repair the facility, as needed.
The deposit for the arena is $200. The daily rental fee is $200 per day. You must also provide proof of liability insurance.
