Effective July 1, 2024 the City of Mexia will no longer be going door to door and picking up brush at the curb. This has never been a city responsibility, but over the years it has morphed into it and is straining the city’s resources. Republic Services will pick up brush according to the attached map on their flyer, but if you cannot wait until your pickup day, you may bring you brush to the Warehouse located at 800 S. Belknap. You will be required to show a water bill and photo ID that matches the address on the water bill. This will be for BRUSH only and if you have lumber or trash mixed in you will be turned away.

Please note that if you want Republic Services to pick up your brush it must NOT exceed 4 feet in length, branches cannot be wider than 4 inches in diameter, AND it must be bundled together.

Following this taking effect, residents who continue to pile brush at the street that is NOT meeting the requirements will be issued a citation for Violation of City Ordinance § 6.06.061 Prohibited Conditions – (d) It shall be unlawful and shall constitute a nuisance for any person who shall own any premises within the city to allow grass, weeds, brush, rubbish, or any other unsightly, objectionable, or unsanitary matter to accumulate or grow on such premises.

If there are any question please refer to the flyer that was provided by Republic Services.
